The Rules

The rules to this competition were simple. The previous king would give the competitors three hours to prepare. To prepare, the competitors needed to go out and gather as many elemental powers as they could. After three hours was over, the competitors would go back to the previous king, and the competitor that had the most elemental powers would become the new king.

There was a magical goblet. If you wanted to participate in this competition, you needed to put your name in the goblet, and after a couple of days there would be a raffle. There were only four competitors in this competition every five years — so if you got chosen, you would be very lucky.

The Goblet

Chip really wanted to participate in this competition. He wanted to become the elemental king more than anything. After you won, you would get to choose one to three people to become your assistants. If Chip won, he would definitely choose Laura and two of his best friends.

This year, the king was having the competition again. Chip was really excited. There was still a week until the goblet made its selection, and Chip really wanted to put his name in. So Chip wrote his name down on a piece of paper and put it into the goblet.

The Wait

You had to be at least thirteen years old to participate in this competition, but Chip couldn't stop himself. There were still five more days. Chip got more excited each day. So did Laura. Laura really wanted Chip to win, because if Chip won, Laura would become a princess.

Every night when Chip was in bed, he almost couldn't fall asleep. He was just too excited. Two more days until the selection! Chip hoped he would win more than anything. So did Laura.

The Big Day

Every day, Chip counted down the days until the competition. Just one more day! Chip practiced the whole day, right up until bedtime. Then he was more excited than ever, because tomorrow was the big day!

When Chip woke up, he ran to the calendar. Today was the day! Chip gulped down his breakfast, changed his clothes, and rode his bike with Laura to the goblet. They were so excited!

The Selection

When they got there, the selection had started. The first name was Harry Cotson. Harry was seventeen years old. The second name was Alora Terbal. At this point, Chip didn't think he would get chosen — it was down to the last name. But surprisingly, the last piece of paper said Chip Lascar. That was him!

Suddenly, Chip and Laura got so excited! But the person doing the selection said that he wasn't old enough. Chip begged and begged to be let in. At the end, the person finally let Chip participate.

Gathering Powers

The king took them to a strange field that Chip had never seen before. The king explained the competition, and then it started right away. Chip ran off to gather some powers.

He found a fire and jumped into it — he had gotten fire powers! Chip continued walking. He found an old box of cold air — he had gotten wind powers! Chip was doing well, but he knew this wasn't going to be easy. Then Chip fell into a pitfall.

The Crystal

Chip felt worried. He didn't think he could win anymore. But he remembered that he had pushed himself this far, and he kept walking until he saw something strange. There was some kind of crystal with all the elemental powers on it!

Chip thought that he should go there, get all the powers, and win. So that is what he did. But suddenly, a giant beast popped up to stop him!

The Beast

The beast told him that if he wanted to get to the crystal, he would have to defeat him first. Chip really wanted to win, and he only had five minutes left. So he battled the monster with all his might — but the monster was too strong. He needed help.

Suddenly, a little fairy flew next to him to help. Chip only had three minutes left. So he used the fairy's advice and defeated the monster! Chip ran to the crystal, and suddenly, he got all the elemental powers!

The Winner

Chip was really excited to become king. He had almost been defeated in that fight! Chip was confident he had enough powers to win, so he sprinted back to the king, and the king counted everyone's powers. Chip had won! Everyone was surprised.

Alora had twelve powers, but Harry didn't come back, and soon everyone knew why. The king said that, sadly, Harry had fallen into a lava trap with spikes and been knocked out of the competition. Chip felt bad about Harry — but he had thirty-five powers!

Long Live the King

And so he had become king! He chose Laura to be princess, his best friend George to be prince, and his other best friend Milo to be his assistant.

Chip was crowned king, Laura became princess, and Chip's best friends became prince and assistant. They all lived happily ever after in Chip's luxurious castle.
